The icehouse of the Hopedale Coal & Ice Company was taken down in the mid-940s. After that, they made ice at their plant near the west end of the Hope Street Bridge. In 1947, the house shown in the lower two pictures was built as the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom West. Mr. West was president of Draper Corporation at that time. In 1967, it was purchased by Bill and Nancy Gannett. For many years, Bill has been the only member of the Draper family living in Hopedale. (The only member of the Draper Corporation family, that is - not counting the "other Drapers"). Bill's mother, Dorothy, was the daughter of Gov. Eben Sumner Draper and Nannie Bristow Draper.
