Philip Roberts, 74, of Crownsville passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Aug 8, 2015. He was born May 25, 1941 in Hopedale MA. Phil was a Crownsville resident since 1983, and served in the United States Navy for 22 years, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. He also worked for the US Dept of Defense for 18 years. Phil was a longtime member of the Bowie MD Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo. He is survived by his beloved wife Audrey (née Miller) Roberts of Crownsville, son Christopher Roberts of Pasadena, son Brian Roberts of Crownsville, daughter Angela Roberts (husband Kevin Mehaffey) of Chicago, grandson Ethan Mehaffey of Chicago, sister Paula Roberts (husband B. Monte Bourque) of Revere MA, sister Elinor Roberts of Berkeley CA, brother-in-law Ronald Miller (wife Jeanne Miller) of Stoystown PA, sister-in-law Sandra Schomp (husband William Schomp) of Stoystown PA and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Paul and Virginia Roberts and brothers Alan Roberts and Paul Roberts of Hopedale MA. Arrangements were handled by Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills MD. Phil's final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery in VA. Friends are invited to make a donation in Phil's memory to Harmony Foundation International.
